Follow these 3 steps to strengthen your hip flexors and increase lower-body strength

Here’s a great move to strengthen your hip flexors and increase lower-body strength (and pile on extra yards, too).

Stand on your right foot and bring your left knee up to waist height and then follow the next three steps:

Illustrations by Ben Mounsey-Wood

(1). Use your left hand to rotate the knee away from your trunk 90 degrees.

(2). Rotate your knee back to the starting position. Slowly extend your leg then cross your left ankle above your right knee. Now sink down slightly into a one-legged, “prayer” pose.

(3). Hold and breathe deep. Exhale, rise and return to start. Reverse the move using your other leg.

It’s as easy as that!
