After a brief layoff for the holidays and New Year’s celebrations, the PGA Tour is back this week for the 2021 Sentry Tournament of Champions, the first event of the year. Here’s everything you need to know to watch the tournament.
Tournament of Champions preview
This year’s Tournament of Champions occupies a familiar place on the schedule, but the field size and makeup of the 2021 edition are unique. Traditionally the field is reserved exclusively for winners of PGA Tour events in the previous calendar year. But once the Covid-19 pandemic wreaked havoc on the 2020 schedule, a few tweaks were put in place for this year only.
In addition to the 2020’s winners, all players who qualified for the Tour Championship in August were also extended an invite. because of that, the field has swelled to its biggest size ever: 42 golfers. Among them are the best players in the game.
World No. 1 Dustin Johnson will make his first start since winning the 2020 Masters in November, and he’s in good company. 2020 PGA champion Collin Morikawa and 2020 U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau are also teeing it up in Hawaii this week. So too is World No. 2 Jon Rahm, who just switched to Callaway gear after signing a new deal with the company, and defending champion Justin Thomas.

With a cable subscription, you can watch the 2021 Sentry Tournament of Champions on Golf Channel and NBC. Golf Channel will air four hours of coverage each day Thursday-Saturday.
