Brian Harman hilariously recounts how Pat Perez and Dustin Johnson reacted to one of his victories

PGA Tour pro Brian Harman has excelled at every level of competitive golf. He won the U.S. Junior Amateur in 2003 and competed on both the 2005 and 2009 Walker Cup teams. Harman played his first full PGA Tour season in 2012 and has been a steady contender ever since, notching wins in 2014 at the John Deere Classic and in 2017 at the Wells Fargo Championship.

“It’s just hard to win,” Harman told hosts Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz in this week’s episode of Subpar. “It’s really, really hard to win, because you have to beat a PGA Tour player that’s having the week of their life every week.”

To claim his first victory, Harman had to beat local favorite Steve Stricker at the John Deere. For his second victory, Harman had to hole an absolute bomb (28 feet!) for birdie on the 72nd hole to pull ahead of Dustin Johnson, who was gunning for an historic fourth-straight victory, and Pat Perez.

As Harman relived his winning moment for Knost and Stoltz, he explained that Johnson and Perez were hanging around for a potential playoff and were watching the action on the final hole from the locker room.

“I hit kind of a marginal chip, and both of them were getting ready to go out to the range,” Harman said. “So I make the putt, and Dustin looks at Pat and says, ‘What happens now?’

“And Pat’s like, “We go home! That’s what happens now!”

Harman’s impersonation of Johnson and Perez had the hosts rolling, but according to Harman, “Pat tells the story much better than I do.”
