While the top of the leaderboard is plenty crowded as players take on Aronimink Golf Club during the second round of the 2026 PGA Championship, the real drama on Friday will come around the cut line.

Check out below for a breakdown on PGA Championship cut rules, where the cut line is projected to fall, and the biggest names in danger of heading home early.

PGA Championship cut rules

The PGA Championship begins the week with 156 players in the field, but come Friday night, the field will be much smaller. At the conclusion of play, the cut will be made with only the top 70 players (and ties) advancing to play the weekend.

This cut makes for the largest in major-championship golf, with the Masters taking only the top 50 and ties while the U.S. Open takes the top 65 and ties. The Open Championship also utilizes the top-70 rule.

Projected cut line

Even with much of the field only just beginning their second rounds, the cut line is already taking shape. According to Data Golf, the cut line is projected to come at either three or four over par. As of 5:30 p.m., there is a 15.3 percent chance the cut comes at three over, and a 84.7 percent chance it comes at four over.
