Scottie Scheffler’s win at the Players Championship was monumental in many ways. Not only was it Scheffler’s second win and seventh T10 finish of the PGA Tour season, but the victory also thrust him into the No. 1 spot in the world golf rankings. And with the Masters approaching in a few weeks, things seem to be clicking on all cylinders for the defending champion.

While Scheffler’s (inevitably) still celebrating his victory at TPC Sawgrass — where he netted a $4.5 million payout — there’s at least one other person who probably popped some champagne and partied all night long, too: a sports bettor who cashed-in big after Scheffler won the tournament.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook’s Twitter account, said sports gambler placed a massive $300,000 bet on Scheffler to win the Players Championship prior the the tournament beginning. Given the odds sat at 11/1 on Thursday, when all was said and done, the bettor earned a $3.3 million payday.

As someone who has a bachelor party in Vegas to attend this weekend, I’m trying to manifest this type of luck. It’s one thing to win $3.3 million. It’s another thing to actually win more money than the guy who finished in 2nd place at the Players Championship (Tyrrell Hatton, who earned $2.7 million). This type of stuff seems to only happen to everyone else. One day, maybe you or I will be the “everyone else” people are jealous of.

Oh, and then there’s this: Tom Hoge, who earned himself $1.5 million, posted a photo of himself tightly stuffed in coach on a flight home from the Players. This sports gambler must be scoffing at such peasantry, as he or she will likely be sitting first-class from here on out.

Anyone who has $300,000 to bet on golf is probably someone who already has plenty of money. But, hey, hearing stories like these are always fun, so here’s to hoping the unknown gambler doubles down and tosses $3 million on Scheffler to repeat at Augusta this year. With current odds at 10/1, a $33 million payout is just another Scheffler win away.
