As one of Tiger Woods’ closest confidants in the game of golf, Notah Begay has seen his fair share of impressive feats from the 25-time major winner.

He was college teammates with Woods at Stanford when he won back-to-back-to-back U.S. Amateur titles (and an NCAA individual championship), and Begay played alongside him on the PGA Tour during his dominant run in the early 2000s.

But despite witnessing countless magical moments throughout Woods’ career, one moment stands out above the rest.

“The 2019 Masters was probably the most impressive thing I’ve seen any athlete do,” Begay said on this week’s episode of GOLF’s Subpar. “Within a couple weeks of the first back surgery, I went to visit him in Jupiter, and he couldn’t get up under his own power.”

Begay explained that he drove Woods to pick up his kids, and to get him to the car, he had to assist Woods like football players might help an injured player off the field.

As Begay sat in the living room of Woods’ Jupiter mansion and looked at all the major championship trophies proudly on display, he had one thought: “That’s it. There won’t be another one added to this.”

Woods, of course, proved him wrong.

“To see him win the Tour Championship and then go on to win the Masters the following year is just completely remarkable, surreal experience for me,” Begay said.

Check out the entire interview below as Begay explains how he was recruited to play at Stanford, his iconic celebration at the Travelers Championship, and more.
