Dustin Johnson was asked recently to choose his favorite hole at Medalist Golf Club.
He couldn’t.
“Oh, wow. All 18 are really good,” he said.
It’s easy to see why.
It’s difficult. The course in Hobe Sound, Fla., stretches to 7,515 yards, with water, trees and traps throughout. It’s playable. When pressed, Johnson settled on 11 – but then pressed back and added 7, 17 and 18. It’s attractive, too. Tiger Woods is a member. The farthest-back set of tees is even named after him. The Tiger tees. Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler, Matt Wolff, Alex Noren and Matt Wallace are also all members. Michael Jordan, too.
It’s also in spotless shape, club president Kevin Quigley said recently. It’ll be ready for Sunday’s The Match: Champions for Charity, featuring the team of Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning taking on the team of Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady.
“The membership is excited for the country to see what a great course we have, what a special piece of property it is,” Quigley told GOLF.com. “It’s in perfect condition. It looks Augusta-like, with not a single blade of grass out of place. In fact, when the Tour came out a week ago to look at the course, they told us we might need to slow down the greens a little bit.”
