After 283 PGA Tour starts, Bud Cauley finally has his first PGA Tour win.
Cauley plays a full bag of Titleist in what is a fairly stock setup as things go, playing the brand’s GTS metalwoods, U505 utility irons, a combo irons set, SM11 wedges and a Scotty Cameron putter.
But the win with the GTS driver is significant, making it back-to-back wins for the new driver family, which has quickly become the hottest driver on the PGA Tour. Cauley’s victory comes with the GTS2 model, marking the deeper CG option’s first PGA Tour victory.
Cauley was an early convert to GTS, switching in his first start after the March launch at the Valero Texas Open. He told reps that week he loved the stability and spin consistency he got compared to his old gamer, as well as the sound and feel. He noted a touch more launch as well.
His Scotty Cameron GoLo 7 S1 jumps on a trend started by Rickie Fowler and Gary Woodland, who both switched to the center-shafted mallet originally released in 2010s earlier this season. Cauley made his move at the Truist Championship from a blade and found the center-shaft configuration very easy to set up to and was a bit heavier than his gamer.
This week, Cauley was fifth in the field in SG: Putting with 6.681 for the week.
