The fall season is fast approaching, and Turtleson is hoping to keep us all properly layered with new styles to choose from. Turtleson is a large lifestyle clothing brand with a great lineup of golf specific gear, as well as a ton of crossover between the two use cases. My closet has started to get sneaky full with Turtleson gear after I found their gear earlier this season, so let’s take a look at what the new fall collection has to offer.
I have to start off with the new line of 100% Extra Fine Merino Wool items. They sent me a Bex Argyle style hoodie (Yes, hoodie. Yes, it’s awesome) and I really do love it. It’s the kind of layer that makes you feel cozy but not hot. It’s a perfect item for a colder fall morning tee time that leads to a mid-day mild temperature finish without having to feel like you need to take it off and shove it in the bag on the 14th hole. It’s also exceptionally soft and super lightweight.
Next we move into the Bellfield hoodie that’s become the best-selling layer that Turtleson has in their catalog for the last three seasons. It’s a blend of ultra-soft cotton-modal that feels really soft to the skin, but also provides a nice amount of performance. This is something you don’t have to worry about playing golf in. It’s also an easy piece to walk straight off the golf course and out to dinner with. I’m a big fan of hoodies on the golf course as long as they fit the proper style, and this is at the top of my list right now. It’s a bit heavier than the merino wool layers, but it’s not as heavy as a traditional hoodie. Sort of the perfect blend of a little bit of weight to feel the warmth without feeling like you’re going to get caught sweaty in it.
“‘Intentional’ was the word of the season for the Turtleson team, and we brought it to life in this fall collection,” said Greg Oakley, CEO and co-founder of Turtleson. “We wanted to create layers that work together seamlessly and color stories that complement your wardrobe, so everything feels intentional instead of complicated. This collection is not about having more clothes, it’s about knowing which pieces make you feel your best and become the ones you reach for most.”
The Wally Two-Button Hoodie is a warmer layer designed for colder weather temps and provides a unique twist by combining the player’s hoodie with the button look. It’s still something I would have no problem playing golf in, particularly when I’m inevitably out on the course around Thanksgiving with my buddies, but it’s definitely something I would say you need to be committed to wearing. If you’re caught in between, the merino layers or the Bellfield are the better choices. This one leans more toward a lifestyle hoodie designed for the colder weather without ruining your golf look.
Next up we’ve got the Issac, which is the Cassi on the women’s side, as a quarter-zip and crewneck option for the new line. This is actually a previous design that worked so well it’s being carried through into the latest collection here. The Issac is made from a blend of 86% cotton and 14% polyester that’s meant to be soft and comfortable but still capable of being active. I also found out on accident that it’s really good at handling wrinkles. That’s a long story, but I can assure you it holds up quite well!
Finally we’ve got the Aidan Comfort Shell, listed as the Nadia for women, which I have been able to test out more than I would like lately with the rain here outside of Chicago. The Aidan is a lightweight full zip that’s great to keep in the bag if you have any fear of rain, you’re looking for something to help cut down on the wind or you need a layer that you can quickly take off without having to stop and disturb the rest of your outfit. The one benefit to this one is that it doesn’t trap you with the moisture inside. Some rain-resistant jackets have a tendency to get real sticky to the skin once it actually starts raining, but the Aidan has some very nice strategic ventilation that helps to maintain internal comfort when the weather goes from rainy to not, and possibly back to rainy again. It’s also got an extended hem on the back of the shell to keep you dry during the golf swing too.
If you haven’t had any experience with Turtleson, I highly suggest checking them out! They have a great catalog of traditional style golf clothing that let’s your game garner attention on the course while making sure to support your performance as well.
