Wyndham Clark said he was “dating” golf clubs as he started his year as an equipment free agent. Now it seems, at least with the putter, he’s ready to settle down.
On Wednesday, ahead of this week’s U.S. Open, Ping announced that Clark is signing an agreement to exclusively play the company’s new Scottsdale TEC putter line. The putter-only nature of the deal is a first for Ping in more than 50 years of sponsoring PGA Tour players.
Clark, who started the year as a gear free agent after his previous contract expired at the end of 2025, first switched to Ping’s Scottsdale TEC Ally Blue Onset putter in March at the Texas Children’s Houston Open. He later moved to a heavier counterbalanced version at the RBC Heritage in April.
Since the move to the 38″ counterbalanced model, Clark has skyrocketed in the PGA Tour’s SG: Putting statistic, going from losing .725 strokes a round and ranked 155th on Tour to T62 in the stat, gaining .120 strokes on the field. Much of the improvement has come from 5 to 15 feet, where Clark’s make percentage has gone from 160th on Tour to 55th.
The 2023 U.S. Open winner returned to the winner’s circle in May at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson for the first time since 2024, shooting 60 in the final round on the strength of holing 158 feet on Sunday. He led the field with more than 12.5 strokes gained for the week.
“I credit the new putter for helping me get back in the winner’s circle,” Clark said in a release. “The white finish first got my attention and when I started rolling putts with it, it set up easily and gave me immediate confidence. I’d never used a putter with onset before, so it was a new look for me that really matches my eye. The onset combined with the top-rail dot simplifies alignment and my consistency has improved. I’m sinking more long putts than ever.”
Since winning in Dallas, Clark finished third at the Memorial Tournament and T11 at the RBC Canadian Open.

“Wyndham comes into the U.S. Open this week as one of the hottest players in the world,” Ping President and CEO John K. Solheim said in a release. “He’s been using the Scottsdale TEC Ally Blue Onset model since the Houston Open and has steadily climbed in the world rankings since then on the strength of a win and third-place finish in his last three tournaments.”
The Scottsdale TEC putter line was launched at retail at the end of March and features Ping’s EyeQ alignment technology, which aims to help golfers focus by keeping their eye still on the ball. Clark’s Ally Blue Onset model has a unique shaft placement near the center line of the putter head, behind the top rail but in front of the center of gravity of the putter.
